About me

I am Terri a Qualified Trauma Informed Integrative Counsellor .

I have over 10 years experience of working as a Counsellor.

In this time I have worked both in private practice and also as a Counsellor and Senior Counsellor in many settings.

I began my career mainly working with adolescents in secondary schools and colleges where I supported young adults in their transition into adulthood. Many of the young people I worked with had experienced Trauma.  Adolescence is a vital time in our lives where we are forming our identity, where our experiences often provide our foundation for adulthood.

I then chose to specialise in Trauma as I wanted to understand how people are impacted by traumatic experiences, especially those occurring in childhood. I  completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Trauma Therapy alongside various relevant training days. I spent my time mainly working with victims and survivors of sexual violence.  I worked as a group and one-to-one counsellor at a major rape crisis centre. Alongside this role, I supported victims of sexual assault and rape within an NHS sexual assault referral centre.

My most recent role has been as a senior Counsellor at a major government inquiry.

Throughout my career, I have been particularly passionate about supporting people in understanding how their experiences whether in childhood or adulthood have impacted them. I believe that counselling can offer you a safe and supportive space to explore your experiences, your feelings and your core beliefs and create something new for yourself.

After taking some time off to focus on my own family when I became a mother, I have developed a passion for supporting mothers throughout their experiences. I saw many parallels between sexual violence and birth trauma and have since supported many mothers in the conception, pregnancy and postpartum journeys. By supporting mothers' mental health and well-being we are also supporting their children.

The Sense Project is me pulling together all of my experience as a counsellor to predominantly focus on supporting women and girls across all areas of their lives and experiences.

I provide one-to-one counselling, EMDR therapy, group counselling, workshops and wellbeing days. Alongside consultancy for organisations around what it means to be Trauma-informed and support employers' wellbeing.

Supporting Girls. Supporting Women. Supporting Mothers.

The Sense Project is an inclusive space so whilst my work focuses on the experiences of womxn.  I also work with anyone who feels that they could benefit from a safe and supportive relationship in which to explore their feelings, difficulties and lives.

I am passionate about supporting you to:

Make sense of your feelings.

Make sense of your experiences

Make sense of your SELF.

"Throughout my own life I have used therapy as a safe and secure place to return to when life threw up hurdles and challenges that I felt I could not face alone. In therapy I unpicked and understood my childhood, adolescent and adult experiences and went through exponential growth to become the truest version of myself. It took courage and was painful at times but also empowering and life changing. I advocate for counselling as it was transformational for me personally" Terri Nash
